THE FUTURE OF PORTABLE RESTROOMS

How many times have you been out in public, or at a sports event, construction site, festival, or even the lake, and you really needed a toilet .. but there were none in sight. It’s a dilemma we’ve all experienced one time too many. We try to come up with solutions to these problems such as those smelly plastic standing rectangles of sewage (and yes, we are indeed referring to the beloved porta-potties / outhouses). Functionally, a design masterpiece that in many ways is a purely genius invention. However, we all know that one person (or few) who refuse at all costs to even enter a porta-potty. For every problem, there must be a solution. So what is the future of portable restrooms for those who need something different? How do we elevate the outdoor public restroom experience to one that meets these increased needs?

Over the past few years, portable luxury restroom trailers have been introduced to the scene, an unquestionable game-changer! It eliminates the vast majority of the traditional outhouse’s shortcomings while still maintaining its flexibility and mobility. With the invention of numerous off-grid toilet solutions and the rise in tiny houses on wheels, it’s only natural that the portable restroom industry follows suit. However, these portable luxury restrooms we see at public parks and wedding venues are still not perfect. The design of these restrooms oftentimes values quantity over quality. (An attribute that is commonly necessary when trying to accommodate hundreds of individuals in dire need of a toilet). However, when the stalls have not been properly designed and your 5’5” self finds her knees pushed up against the wall … you question how that person standing 6’2” behind you is going to manage. How do you ensure these restrooms are always ADA compliant and universally designed so that everyone can utilize them equally? Where and how will parents change their child’s diaper? What if you’re at a campground and these restrooms need to be equipped with a standing shower stall (also ADA compliant)? More often than not these ‘portable restroom trailers’ are not up to par with the needs of both businesses and individuals.

At B&B Micro Manufacturing we believe the future of public restrooms should always be ADA compliant and universally designed. Our restrooms are specifically designed to the needs of each buyer, allowing for a 5’ turning radius, touch-free appliances, grab bars, standing showers, wheel-chair accessible sinks, and a ramped entry. Our trailers range from 16’-22’ in length, accommodating anywhere from 2-4 individual restrooms, from half to full baths.

CUSTOMIZABLE

Just like anything, restrooms need to be tailored to their intended use. The bathroom in your private residence looks nothing like the bathroom you use at the airport or work. With good reason, as factors such as traffic flow, codes, budget, signage, etc. are all employed in different ways, for different reasons, to achieve a different outcome.
